He Lost Everything. Then He Built Something Greater
When Wesley Hamilton was shot and suffered a spinal cord injury in 2012, he could not imagine how he would live this life. What followed was years of rehabilitation, depression, and a hard-won transformation that eventually led him to found “Disabled But Not Really”, a nonprofit that focused on building inclusive fitness centers and parks in underserved communities and advising organizations on accessibility. His mission: to instill a physically limitless mindset that breeds courage, confidence, and competence. His story is a powerful reminder that identity, purpose, and community can be rebuilt from any starting point.
